官方題型說明 Task format

八個空格，每格自己寫一個字。這是整份考卷文法密度第二高的一題——關係代名詞、介系詞、比較級、強調句框架都在這裡出現。官方考卷中為 第 9–16 題。

題目說明（rubric）依照官方題型格式以英文呈現；以下練習題為埃森美語原創編寫，用於熟悉題型，非劍橋官方試題。官方免費樣卷：cambridgeenglish.org → B2 First for Schools preparation。

Read the text below and think of the word which best fits each gap. Use only one word in each gap.

My Semester in New Zealand

Two months ago, I left Taiwan _____(1)_____ the first time to spend a semester at a small school in New Zealand. I had never travelled on my _____(2)_____ before, so I felt extremely nervous at the airport.

My host family, _____(3)_____ live on a sheep farm outside Auckland, made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Some of the differences surprised me — for example, lessons start much earlier than they _____(4)_____ in Taiwan, and students call their teachers by first names.

At first, I found the local accent difficult to understand, _____(5)_____ by the end of the month I could follow most conversations easily. I also joined the school's hiking club, _____(6)_____ helped me make new friends quickly.

There were, of course, _____(7)_____ difficult days too, especially when I felt homesick. Looking back, though, I'm very glad I had _____(8)_____ chance to go, and I would recommend the experience to any student thinking of studying overseas.

1. 第 (1) 格

解析：for the first time 是固定片語，意思是『第一次』，只能填介系詞 for。

2. 第 (2) 格

解析：on my own 是固定片語，意思是『獨自一人』；own 是這個片語中固定的字，不可替換。

3. 第 (3) 格

解析：who 指前面的先行詞 my host family（指這一家人）；因為前後有逗號、屬於非限定用法（non-defining relative clause），只能用 who 或 which，不可用 that。

4. 第 (4) 格

解析：do 在此作代動詞，代替前面出現過的動詞 start，避免重複：earlier than they do (= start) in Taiwan。

5. 第 (5) 格

解析：but／yet 是轉折連接詞，用來連接『一開始聽不懂』和『後來漸漸聽懂』這兩個對比的子句。

6. 第 (6) 格

解析：which 指前面的事物 the hiking club；因為前面有逗號、屬於非限定用法，只能用 which，不可用 that。
